Alcohol Prep Pad, also known as Alcohol Swab, is a gauze pad that has been saturated with alcohol. Various disinfectants are available for different applications, each having an antiseptic function. Antiseptic alcohol prep pads do not kill the microorganisms, but rather stop their growth and reproduction. The pads are effectively sealed in a multi-layer aluminum foil bag that prevents leakage or drying out to guarantee that the alcohol does not evaporate, providing a high standard of sterilization.
STAYGUARD™ IS THE BRAND OF CHOICE
StayGuard™ Alcohol Prep Pads feature thick and soft medical-grade non-woven spunlace. Different sizes and disinfectants provide a solution for any medical application. Due to our high standards of production, our products are environmentally friendly. StayGuard™ is a ISO, CE and USFDA approved alcohol prep pads manufacturer.
PRODUCT USAGE
Alcohol Swabs are ideal for skin preparation prior to needle puncture or minor pre-operation. They are normally used by doctors and nurses to clean an area right before giving an injection, to clean a wound, clear out pus or for any similar procedure.
Alcohol Swabs can also be used to clean the skin, including small cuts, scrapes and bug bites as well as blisters.
Alcohol swabs are commonly found worldwide in hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, first-aid kits or any other place where a fast easy cleaning is needed. Healthcare professionals use alcohol prep pads because they help prevent bacteria from entering the body and causing an infection.
CAUTION
Using Alcohol Prep Pads on sensitive skin can cause redness, dryness and irritation. An alcohol prep pad should never be used to reduce fever because it is not its indication. Also, it should never be used in the eyes or nose.
Once used, both the package and the alcohol pad are to be discarded. They should be only used once and never shared with other people. If the swab has any blood or other material on it, is must be handled as bio-hazardous waste.
Alcohol prep pads are applied to surface for disinfection and they are only for external use.

StayGuard™ alcohol prep pads are ideal antiseptic wipes for skin preparation for injection or pre-operation. They have an antiseptic function and help preventing infections caused by bacteria.
Are Alcohol Prep Pads re-usable?
No. Once used, both the package and the alcohol swab are to be discarded. Alcohol swabs should be only used once and never shared with other people. If the pad has any blood or other material on it, it must be handled as bio-hazardous waste.
How should I store Alcohol Prep Pads?
They should be protected from freezing temperatures and avoid excessive heat.
When should I not use Alcohol Prep Pads?
You should not use the prep pads with electrocautery procedures and no longer than one week.
What is IPA?
70% isopropyl alcohol.
I do not drink alcohol. Will this get absorbed into my skin and enter into my bloodstream?
If you use it properly, “No, it will not.” Alcohol prep pads are applied dermatologically, meaning on the surface of the skin. Minimal amount of alcohol might be absorbed from the skin. Yet, the amount of alcohol absorbed through the skin is so minute that it will not be able to affect the blood alcohol concentration. However, this means that if by any chance you drink or eat the alcohol prep pad or spill a huge amount of any type of alcohol such as 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA), you may get intoxicated. The symptoms may involve low nausea, low blood pressure, dizziness, and abdominal pain. If such signs are spotted, do not forcefully try to vomit because it would damage the esophagus. Go seek for your doctor’s help immediately if such symptoms are seen.
Can I use these prep pads at home?
Yes, our alcohol prep pads are available for hospital, clinics, or household uses. Seek for our products in the nearest retail pharmacies.
