Cast Padding is a type of bandage used to provide cushioning and a layer of protection for a plastered wound. As the layer between the rigid cast and the body, comfort is important for the patient as the padding usually remains under the cast throughout the healing process.
STAYGUARD™ IS THE BRAND OF CHOICE
StayGuard™ Cast Padding is available in 3 different medical-grade materials:
Polyester is strong and resistant to creasing. It is also resilient and easy to wash. The texture is soft and smooth.
Viscose, also known as Rayon, is synthetically made cellulose fibers that are highly absorbent, thick, elastic, and relatively light. Due to its elasticity, viscose conforms well to varying body contours. This allows the patient to freely move without restriction and prevents the skin from swelling at the same time. Our viscose material also grants breathing space, which in turn prevents skin irritation.
Cotton is the lightest and has the highest absorbency among the three materials that StayGuard™ provides. StayGuard™ Cotton Cast Padding is quick to absorb and release perspiration, as well as soft and comfortable. Cotton provides the most comfortable experience with its high quality and strength. An interesting aspect about cotton is that it gets stronger when it is wet, meaning it will be effective to clean, protect, and absorb bodily fluids.
PRODUCT USAGE
Cast Padding is widely used in hospitals and clinics for orthopedic purposes under a plaster or other type of cast to provide padding, prevent irritation and infection, and facilitate the healing process for orthopedic fractures or other injuries. Our cast padding is available in different materials and various sizes for every application.

FAQs
What do you need Cast Padding for?
Cast padding is used under the plaster cast in order to prevent skin from swelling, and to protect the wound area by adding a layer of padding.
Which material should I choose?
It really depends on the personal preference. Polyester is strong and resistant while viscose, the most commonly used material for cast padding, is elastic and conforms to the body well. Viscose is light, but cotton is lighter. It is the lightest material we offer, and not only is it light, but cotton is also the material with the highest absorbency. Price is the cheapest from polyester - viscose - cotton. You get to choose the specific type of cast padding according to your needs.
